Achakanya water falls is one of the less explored natural beauties of Karnataka. The waterfall is formed by the River Sharavathi when it takes a splendid leap among the dense forests of Western Ghats. The spectacular fall has a height of about 6 to 7 feet. The best time to visit the Achakanya Falls is during the rainy season, when the waterfall can be seen in its full glory. The waterfall is located near the village of Aralasurali that lies about 10 km from the town of Thirthahalli in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. From Shimoga, one has to take the National Highway NH-13 to reach Thirthahalli. Achakanya Falls is just 10 Km on the way to Hosanagara. June to October is the best time to visit the waterfalls.
